Take a dip for charity this new year - calling brave North Queensferry volunteers!

  • Join the CLIC Sargent dip at Limekilns at new year
  • Last year's 32 dippers line up

There’s still time to get involved in a fun new year event, with organisers calling on people in North Queensferry to take the plunge into the Forth, and help to raise money for a great cause.

The New Year's Day Dip at Limekilns is looking for people to take part in aid of the CLIC Sargent cancer charity, and already dippers are registered for this year with loads of registration forms landing in the mailboxes each day.

The Dip is at 10am on New Year's Day at Limekilns Beach near North Queensferry. There is no registration fee to take part but organisers do ask that everyone tries their best to raise a minimum of £100 each for CLIC Sargent. Fancy dress is encouraged!

To save time on the day, register in advance to take part - to enter and for more information please contact Hamish Alldridge at CLIC Sargent at hamish.alldridge@clicsargent.org.uk or on 07968 098939.

You can find out more here on the Dip's Facebook page.

Here’s a clip of the brave volunteers taking the plunge at this year’s dip – join them this year!

Ross McKay says

Jane Smart took part in the dip at Limekilns for the first time last year – and enjoyed the experience so much that she’ll be taking the plunge again this year.

Jane said: “First of all it is for a wonderful charity and we are doing something that is fun and children with cancer get the help and support they so badly need.

“I had no idea what I was letting myself in for when I did it for the first time last year, going in the water is like thousands of needles hitting you and it really takes your breath away. I am a very bad loser so when asked to do it again this year, ‘no’ just wasn't an option.

“This year though I will be wearing water shoes, as last year I did not and the stones are not the best to walk on, especially with cold feet. I stood around last year on my take of the ‘LBD’ in a "Little Black Dress" with my pearls on and no, not from the night before either. All in all, it is great fun and a great atmosphere and I am looking forward to taking part again this year, standing there in my LBD and pearls and eating the bacon rolls with a nice hot coffee.”

Will you join Jane and the other dippers this year?
