Swarms of flying ants invade North Queensferry
21 JulyNorth Queensferry has suffered an invasion of flying ants - as thousands of the creatures descended on the area, attracted by the mild, damp weather.
The swarms of flying ants are taking part in a spectacular annual mating ritual - although experts said there was no need to be afraid as the insects would not bite.
Large female ants pick one day a year to mate by sensing temperature, humidity and day length.
Barry Cameron of North Queensferry was amongst those affected by the flying ants, while out jogging.
