24/11/2009Primary pupils on the up thanks to council cash
Pupils at North Queensferry Primary School will soon be climbing the walls thanks to cash from Fife Council's South West Fife Area Committee.
Councillors have agreed to give the school over £6,500 towards the cost of a traversing (climbing) wall which will be built in a shelter in the school playground.
The idea for the project came from P7 pupil Cormac McGoldrick at the school. Headteacher Sally Hourston explained: "We have a shelter in the playground that is very rarely used. It's an ideal space to create an active area where pupils can work together on the traversing wall. The plan is to paint a mural of the Forth road and rail bridges on the shelter before the wall is installed.
"We're delighted that the council have agreed to help fund the project as it will mean a great deal to all the pupils at the school."
