North Queensferry Boat Club
North Queensferry Boat Club is situated in the West Bay area of North Queensferry. Sitting on the North Shore of the Firth of Forth between the Forth Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge. On the site that was originally built as the Railway Pier for rail travellers until the opening of the Forth Bridge when the pier was latterly used for vehicle ferry access till the Forth Road Bridge was opened 4th September 1964.
NQBC was originally formed in 1953 as a rowing club, with 12 members and based in the Wee Bay, East of North Queensferry. It then moved to the Old Railway Pier in 1990 and the boat repair yard was established, making use of existing old ferry buildings and Forth Yacht Marina showrooms and workshops.
For the members We look to establish an adequate long term lease of the site, Buildings,Pier and Slipway. Guaranteeing NQBC members access to affordable Winter Hard Standing, Moorings, Club House facilities, lockers, showers, toilets, workshop?garage and uninterrupted priority access to the slip.
For the Community We look to establish an aesthetic working harbour with an ambient marine environment that compliments the infrastructure and geographical position of the site. This has been enjoyed by both visitors and the people of North Queensferry. This in return will create involvement opportunities to support and accommodate the community of all ages and genders, in initiatives associated primarily with the marine environment. Thus allowing for all the freedom and access to walk, exercise, picnic, utilise and enjoy the area in an undisturbed, safe and secure environment.
