North Queensferry takes its name from Saint Margaret, wife of King Malcolm III, who founded the town to as a permanent site for a ferry crossing on the Forth. The town sits between the Forth Road Bridge and Forth Rail Bridge, which opened in 1890 and 1964 respectively, and at the end of the Fife Coastal Path which stretches to the Tay Bridge in the north. Today North Queensferry is a thriving small community of just over 1,100 people, and famous residents include Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown and novelist Iain Banks. It is also the home of the popular Deep Sea World attraction. s1northqueensferry.com has been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, publicise events and display photos and videos.
